Showing Appreciation

Thank You Pastor!

“I awoke this morning with devout thanksgiving for my friends, the old and the new.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson.

A big part of living a gracious life is showing gratitude to those in our circle as well as to those outside of our circle.  Webster’s Dictionary defines “gratitude” as the state of being grateful; warm and friendly feeling toward a benefactor; kindness awakened by a favor received.

During this Easter season, most of Red Oak parishioners and a large part of the community received a much-needed surprise in the form of a well decorated care package filled with lots of goodies with a card that read, “You are my sunshine, thinking of you” and signed by RISE Youth ROUMC. For me personally, that small act of kindness made my day.

On behalf of the members of Red Oak United Methodist Church and the community, I would like to express my gratitude to Associate Pastor Keenan Sutton, Director of RISE Youth Ministry for inspiriting the youths of ROUMC to spread a little love, a little joy and to encourage a little smile at a time when it could be so easy to forget about others.

Showing gratitude has a way of generating future acts of kindness.  This is a gentle reminder to let us remember to practice giving a little more and showing our appreciation a whole lot more. Gratitude should be one of the cornerstones of living a gracious life today. And just as we give thanks to God, let’s do the same for our friends, family, and neighbors as well.
