Did you know that the Scandrett Family has Red Oak UMC’s oldest male member? Charlie Scandrett is the oldest living male member of Red Oak United Methodist Church. He is very family oriented, dedicated, and committed to his church, family, and friends. Before the Family Life Center was built, Mr. C. Scandrett applied and received the permit to build it. He also acquired approval to put the kitchen in the Family Life Center. During one of Red Oak UMC’s darkest times, Mr. Charlie Scandrett retrieved the permit and a contractor to rebuild the church. He also donated shrubbery to enhance the church’s landscaping. His cousin Charles Scandrett known as Big Willie, is also known for his famous barbecue that many church members have truly enjoyed at many occasions.
The Scandretts are dedicated members of Red Oak and serve on various committees, and also hold leadership positions. Dianne Brocks, for example, is Chairperson of the Trustees, Brenda Snow is Assistant Chairperson of Finance, and Anthron Brocks is instrumental in supporting the music ministry and a leader on the communications team. Tamika Scandrett has also been a leader in finance by serving as one of the secretaries, and the late Rev. John Scandrett was instrumental in starting the male chorus.
