Larry Brock

Mr. Larry Brock is a native Georgian.  He attended Clayton County public schools and graduated from Morris Brown College in 1973 with a B.S. Degree in Business Administration.  Larry retired in 2016 after working many years as an Independent Certified Residential Appraiser in the state of Georgia and ten years as an Appraiser with Clayton County Tax Assessor’s office.  Hobbies include traveling and playing golf when time permits.  He is married to Alice Brock and together they have two adult children and 4 grandchildren.  After living in DeKalb County for 30 years, they returned to Clayton County 16 years ago and currently reside in Jonesboro.

Larry is a life time member of Red Oak UM Church where he continues to work on different committees, sings in the choir, and serves on the Ministerial Staff under Pastor Belinda McCastle.  His service includes work on the Building Committee, Trustees, Finance, and the United Methodist Men. Larry completed Leadership U.M.C. in 2009 under Pastor Yvette Massey and served as Lay Leader under Pastor Jacque Rose-Tucker from 2010-2016.  Larry completed the “Licensing to Preach” course at Emory Candler School of Theology in 2017, as well as “Course of Study #121” in January 2018.   Larry is continuously studying God’s word in Sunday school, has completed four “Disciple” Bible study classes, and is currently co- facilitating Fast Track “Disciple II” bible study. He leads the weekly early morning “corporate prayer” call-in format and assists with Wednesday evening “prayer hour”.

Larry loves the Lord, family and our church.  His guiding principle is this:  “Scriptures tell us that God loved the world and he gave his only Son, whoever believes shall have eternal life.  God sent his Son not to condemn the world but that the world through Him might be saved.  We have to believe, have faith and trust God.”
