Smart Lunch Smart Kids Training

Training for 2016 Smart Lunch, Smart Kid Summer Program




Who: Smart Lunch, Smart Kid Service Partners


What: 2nd Annual (New & Improved!) SLSK Training Day


When: Friday April 15th from 9:45am to 2:15pm (Lunch included!)


Where: Tucker United Methodist Church: 5095 Lavista Rd, Tucker, GA 30084


Why: To better how each of us serve our communities & to master the new policies and procedures for SLSK


The Details:


In 2015 SLSK had its 1st Annual Partner Training with close to 50 partner participants in attendance. In 2016 we are looking forward to having representation from every service county and hoping to have a representative from every partner. Why is this training so important to us? During the summer it’s very difficult to get all of our partners together to collaborate and share ideas; and this is an excellent opportunity for that. Additionally, this is the best way we can be sure that we have conveyed all of the necessary information to everyone in the same way and that everyone understands the policies and procedures. Just like in 2015, we will be handing out or new and updated Partner Manual for 2016 at training. We have also listened & are acting on the positive and helpful feedback we received from our 2015 Training and will be incorporating county/area team collaboration/small group opportunities this year! Lunch will be included and you will have the option to select a vegetarian or non-vegetarian option for lunch. Before Training:


1.      ANY person that will have interaction with a child (under 18) this summer needs to undergo a background check here. EXCEPTIONS: This year we are allowing anyone who cleared a background check through Action Ministries, Inc for summer of 2015 OR anyone that has a cleared background from 6/2015 through current via Safe Sanctuary AND can provide the clearance letter to use that clearance for summer 2016. If you need to know if you or your volunteers have cleared a background check through AMI for summer 2015 please send me a list of names and I will check our rosters. We are in progress of establishing a clearer system to make this process easier.


2.      Register EACH individual attending training here. Registration will close April 8th, 2016; however, we will be able to add a small number of individuals after this date, so please contact me if that situation arises.


3.      Your area coordinator should make contact with you. If you do not hear from your area coordinator OR myself OR Rachel Ruckart regarding your area specifics before April 4th, please reach out and let me know. There will be a time built into training for area specific training/coordination and we want this process to go as smoothly as possible.
